We were delighted to host the inaugural BIG 7 Wellington Waszp and Wingfoil festival at Worser Bay Boating Club, over a Wild Weekend from Friday, January 31, 2025, to February 1 and 2, 2025.
This was our first foray into holding a Wing Foiling racing event at Worser Bay. And to add to the excitement we also hosted our first ever North Island Waszp championships.
Commodore Bill Grindell commented at the opening ceremony "that as the club prepares for our 100th anniversary celebration it is particularly exciting to be embracing the foiling revolution as this will be an important part of the second 100 years of sailing at Worser Bay."
Racing was tightly fought across the three days with fifteen races for the Waszps and 13 for the WIngfoilers. Peter Graham came out on top in the Waszp fleet closely followed by Jasper Camenzind and Ora Mead, while the Wingfoiling fleet was also closely fought with Hugo Appleby coming out on top followed by Elliot Bacon and Woo Norris.

Also during the weekend over 40 newbies gave wingfoiling a go and are now invited to take part in our start wingfoiling programme.
The event proved quite a spectacle and generated many fantastic photos, a selection of which from our facebook page are posted below.
We are really looking forward to doing it all again as part of our 100th birthday celebrations in 2026. See you there!
